There's a lot I didn't know about Bill King. Putting it all in perspective he's actually tolerable. (Take any two of King, Joe Castiglione, and Jerry Trupiano and put them in a booth together, with the other one paired with a younger, competent broadcaster. Regardless of the combo I'd probably get guilty pleasure from the two and wish and hope year after year for the other guy to retire already.)
Castiglione has his own Wikipedia page, as does Troop.
This USA Today rundown (found via this page) describes Ken Korach as having "a smooth delivery that makes him one of the most listenable voices in baseball."
WHILE WE'RE HERE, some bonus tidbits about Greg Papa (linked to Bill King via the Raiders, and also his time as an A's broadcaster; he's switched baseball allegiances across the Bay but still does Raiders ("Touchdown, rrrRaiders!", etc.) as far as I know).
This is hilarious but sad. Meanwhile, here's a transcript of his call of Tom Brady's "tuck" non-fumble. He and Tom Flores were not happy campers. I didn't catch this part on the radio but did get their call for the rest of the game including all of Vinatieri's heroics. If you've ever seen a SNL sketch claiming to be the other broadcasting team's call of the Shot Heart 'Round The World, it was like that only bitter and vindictive.
